Certain drinks feel especially celebratory. And one that automatically comes to mind is champagne. But when it comes to celebratory drinks that are synonymous with celebrations and luxury? It can only be Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label.
The iconic champagne is a staple for festive occasions that demand elegance and refinement. From wedding toasts to personal milestones, champagne flutes are filled to the brim with its signature golden hue. The distinct, full-bodied flavor Veuve Clicquot Brut is best known for has also cemented it as a favorite among revelers through the years.
With a rich history that dates as far back as the 18th century, it makes sense how old-world ideals that defined its production process help maintain the impeccable quality of Veuve Clicquot Brut Champagne to this day. Head over to
Pascale’s Liquors

to pick up a bottle or keep reading to learn more about the history, heritage, and craftsmanship behind it.
Where It All Began:
Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label
Brands that define themselves as staples of luxury are invariably steeped in history–and Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label is no exception.
The brand was founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot-Murion in Reims, France, and at the time, it was just a small part of the family’s bigger business, which was focused on textiles and trading. Philippe’s son, Francois Clicquot, eventually took over and eventually met his wife, Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin–the woman who would significantly change the course of the Clicquot enterprise.
In 1805, Francois unfortunately passed away. Ponsardin, a widow at 27, ultimately had to take over the family’s champagne business. This is actually where the name of the company comes from. “Veuve”, which is French for “widow” is meant to honor Ponsardin’s contributions to the business.
Ponsardin had an inherent understanding of the business, which is what helped build it to become what it is today. With her at the helm, she introduced the riddling table–an innovation that clarified champagne by consolidating sediment, significantly enhancing clarity and quality of champagne production. This allowed them to produce their high-quality champagne faster while allowing them to maintain their meticulous craftsmanship. To this day, this process sets the standard for modern champagne-making techniques.
Today, Veuve Clicquot is known as one of the most prestigious champagne houses and Ponsardin would later be known as the “Grande Dame of Champagne.”
An Undeniable Heritage of Quality and Craftsmanship
Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label is made from a blend of Pinot Noir (50%), Meunier (20%), and Chardonnay (30%) The Pinot Noir provides the structure of the champagne and lends body and strength to the blend. Meunier helps add a round, fruity character, and the Chardonnay contributes that much-needed refined touch to the whole mix.
To maintain the consistency and complexity of flavors, up to 45% of the blend is made up of reserve wines. In keeping with Veuve Clicquot's heritage of quality and craftsmanship, their reserve wines are typically aged for 30 years. The attention to detail they place in their aging process ensures that every bottle of Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label maintains its consistent taste and quality throughout the years.
Flavors That Define Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label
Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label is known for its strength, aromatic richness, freshness, and silkiness.
As its name implies, the robe of Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label has a distinct marigold hue. Visually, the signature golden liquid is an eye-catching trademark that is complemented by signature fine bubbles that contribute to its elegance and reflect the quality behind creating it.
The bouquet is a rich and inviting fusion of scents that draw upon the aromas of the grape varieties used. Subtle hints of fresh and zesty citrus notes add brightness to its scent. The toasty and creamy notes come from the champagne’s aging process. And a delicate whiff of dried fruits helps add depth and complexity to the blend.
Once you finally taste the champagne, you’ll understand how all these combine to offer a harmonious and balanced blend of flavors. The champagne has a lively acidity that makes it feel invigorating and fresh. The character of Pinot Noir gives it a full-bodied profile and the distinctly smooth texture, feels luxuriously creamy on the palate. The entire experience leaves you with a crisp aftertaste that leaves a refreshingly memorable impression.
